In 2014 I featured a series of blog posts introducing you to 2,014 names. For the most part they were names that were brand new to me as well. Some names may be more familiar but I found the meaning or origin or some other aspect of the name made it worthy of inclusion here. You may love some of the names, you may hate some, but hopefully you enjoy learning about all of them.

Rename Mr. Arthur Samuel Pfautz

For a change we are going to rename a fellow whose full name we know. Keep the last name of Pfautz but give him a new first and middle name. Arthur Samuel is very handsome but choose a more modern name this time around.

My choice is Reed Barrett.

Name These Kids

Not sure if these kids are boys or girls, but let's say the one in orange is a boy and the littler one is a girl. Name them accordingly.

I'll name them Louis Ammon and his kid sister Eva Melanie.

Name This Girl

When I look at this adorable little girl picking buttercups, I immediately think of the movie "The Princess Bride" whose main character is a peasant girl named Buttercup. As delicate and nice as the flower is, it does not make the best name, as flower names go. Let's give this girl a few different sorts of names. First, an appropriate flower name. Second, an appropriate princess name. Third an appropriate medieval peasant girl name. Fourth, a hippie name. Fifth, a more modern 'country' name. And sixth, a nice name that would work nowadays.

Name this Child

Found this portrait online and thought it would be fun to name this child. I'm not exactly sure if it's a boy or a girl, so let's give it a name for a boy, one for a girl, and one that works for either gender.

Name This Woman

If you love old movies like I do then you are sure to know Leslie Caron. Let's rename her just for fun. Give her a French name, also try giving her an American name.

I would name her Sidonie Lilwenn Ambre or Nora Estelle.

Butterfly Monogram?

Ever noticed how a butterfly with its wings spread resembles the letter W? I'm thinking of ways of incorporating that in my monogram or simply emphasizing that aspect of the butterfly as a motif on the napkin, or making it very subtle and something I have to point out. Here are a few that have inspired me:
So these aren't butterflies. But I got a few ideas from this. One would be to use the repeating flower design whose interwoven green lines could represent the w or maybe I just need a simple repeating design with W strategically placed in the line of the design or a small w stitched next to a pretty design, like the basket of flowers. We shall see.

More for My Monogram

Here are more motifs I might use for my napkin monogram (this is the greatest overthinking exercise ever! I've even read about ancient Babylonian signet rings and warding off demons with monograms.)

Monograms

I have some napkins I've been wanting to monogram, using cross-stitch, though possibly other embroidery stitches as well. But all of my designs are in Utah. Go figure! And all my files on that other computer. Here are some I am considering using or adapting.

Some of the alphabets don't have a W for me to choose, but rather, I can take the M and turn it upside down as my W or else take the V or U and duplicate it to create one.

Name this Woman

Since this photograph is from the version of Vogue magazine published in Italy, give the lady a nice Italian name and then, an American one.

My choices are Giuseppa Olivia for her Italian name and Amber Jeanine for her American one.

Who would wear this hat?

Name the sort of woman you imagine would wear this hat out. I think Evelyn. Maybe Evelyn Sarah.
